Something new every day for puppies!

(Complied by Laura Kathryn, ShilohShepherd.co on 8-22-25)

Always have your puppy under supervision when they are playing with, or chewing on any of these items. If anything gets destroyed or chewed, remove it from your puppy. Puppies don't know what they should not swallow.

  • Banging pots/pans

  • TV on various channels

  • Different kinds of music

  • Turning on ceiling fan/window fan

  • Plastic bags, like the Walmart kind that blow in the wind

  • Children of all ages.

  • A fan on the floor outside of the pen blowing in. Ideally one that turns on and off on it's own so it just starts and stops.

  • Helium balloons attached to toys they can pick up or just a few feet over their heads again with a fan or something to make them move.

  • Hair dryer, aluminum cans, umbrella, wearing a ball cap/hat, sunglasses, cane, crutches, walker, foam mats, ex-pens laid out flat…tarp my fences so the wind blows making them flutter and make noise.

  • Bamboo chimes hung from top of something with a roof, canning jars lids hung like a necklace, Fisher Price toddler slide or piano keyboard on wheels that plays music, teeter totter,. We also turned a cyclone fencing dog kennel on it's side, door up, to put the cyclone surface for them to walk over. Or use an expen. When upright, hang stuff from it and they can use it like a big tunnel and raceway

  • Pups have a blast playing in an empty dog food bag. Start them out by tossing a handful of kibble back in. When the boldest one started making crunching noises from in it, the rest followed quickly.

  • Musical instruments!

  • Shaking out a plastic trash bag/plastic bag noise.
